The kindergarten students at McKenzie Elementary School receive special visits from local, talented athletes. These athletes came to read with and encourage the kindergarteners through the Reading with a Role Model program.
The Reading with a Role Model program allows local schools and collegiate level athletes to visit McKenzie Elementary School weekly. Through reading and visiting, students are encouraged to be dedicated to learning, respectful to teachers and adults, and be involved with extra curricular activities, such as sports, to help make good choices for their lives. The program is directed by its creator, Mark Cooper, of McKenzie.
MES would like to send a special thanks to all of the students who volunteer their time for Reading with a Role Model.
