Bio

Hello!  My name is Ms. Amy Webb Wilkes.   I am originally from Waynesboro, TN where I grew up and graduated from Wayne County High School.  After graduating from Union University and earning my teaching degree, I received my masters degree in curriculum and instruction from the University of Memphis. I reside in McKenzie and have taught here at the elementary school since 1993. This is my 31st year to teach in the Tennessee public school system.  All of these years have been in the regular classroom.  This year, I accepted a new role as Reading Interventionist here at MES.

I have a son, Brady, who graduated from Freed-Hardeman in 2015 majoring in Bible.  He is the Youth Minister at the Broad Street church of Christ in Lexington, TN.   He and my sweet daughter-in-law, Zoie, live in Lexington.  Zoie is also a graduate of Freed-Hardeman and is now working on her graduate degree in Occupational Therapy.

I absolutely LOVE teaching!  I can't think of any better job in the world that allows one to make such an impact in the lives of children.  I hope I have done and will continue just that!
