Bethel University Provides One on One Assistance With Students In The Classroom

The excitement of students at McKenzie Elementary School is evident as their eyes get big and grins spread across their faces. Students are eager to share their learning with ball players from Bethel University’s baseball and football teams, and they show it with their enthusiasm! The Bethel University Baseball team is in their second year of volunteering in the MES library. Ms. Carol Nanney, MES Library-Media Specialist, and Coach Rusty Thompson, head BU baseball coach, work together to provide MES students an opportunity to read to BU baseball player-volunteers. Coach Ron Jankovich, Assistant BU Football Coach, has provided player-volunteers to work in individual classrooms where they assist students with multiplication facts, spelling words, accelerated reading books, and even participating in P.E. classes. The students and staff of McKenzie Elementary School are excited to continue their work with the Bethel University community to further the academic goals of our students.
